FEEDBACK FROM THE CUSTOMER

“Our new outdoor space has transformed the outdoor learning. The children have become keen builders, climbers, inventors, performers, and story tellers. The structures are well designed to incorporate all the children learning at different stages.”

BACKGROUND

The Good Shepherd Catholic Academy is in Woodthorpe located next to the Nottingham City boundary.

The school’s main values are to always put the interests and needs of the children first and strive to encourage them to fulfil their highest potential and develop lifelong learning.

PROJECT BRIEF

The EYFS area was an uninspiring space that constantly became waterlogged, resulting in the children becoming muddy and not using the space to its full potential.

The schools’ main requirement was to have a fun learning environment, where the children could really use their imaginations and develop their communication and language skills.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Having worked closely with Fawns at several other schools within the Our Lady of Lourdes Multi Academy Trust over recent years, the Good Shepherd Catholic Voluntary Academy were keen to utilise our specialist expertise for their latest project.

Our Play Consultant Craig visited the school and discussed the issues in the area and considered how best to utilise the new space with the teachers’ intended outcomes in mind.

A bright and imaginative play area was designed, and after discussions between Craig and the school, small amendments were made resulting in a perfect design for the exciting new EYFS playground.
