Bark is initially the most cost-effective safer surfacing available. You can achieve good fall height protection but bark pits will require regular maintenance. 200mm deep bark pits are required as a minimum, (subject to the certified fall height of the bark) for high level equipment. We normally recommend raised pits to avoid drainage problems.
