FEEDBACK FROM THE CUSTOMER
“Our Safe Play is a positive addition for our children. The installation from Playtime by Fawns was 1st class and the children enjoyed watching the installation. Now it has been completed and signed off, the children are now using the equipment safely and in an orderly manner. They know using this type of equipment has risks, but this teaches them to focus and concentrate so they can achieve. Children are overcoming any initial anxieties of using it by being supported by friends and adults and are proud of our new safe play.”
N. Arnold, Headteacher
INTRODUCTION
Located in the charming market town of Taunton, Somerset, Lyngford Park Primary and Nursery stands as a beacon of educational excellence under the esteemed Richard Huish Trust. With a passionate commitment to nurturing young minds, Lyngford Park inspires children to become inquisitive explorers and fosters an enduring love for learning.
PROJECT BRIEF
The school required play equipment for their younger children that would enhance core strength, coordination and stamina as well as fostering teamwork.
They were also keen to encourage their pupils to embrace some risk-taking challenges, all in the safety of the supervised school playground.
BACKGROUND RESEARCH
As a partner school in the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, the Finance and Operations Directors were invited to attend a comprehensive tour of the outdoor learning environment at another school, designed by Playtime by Fawns. They were thoroughly impressed by the innovative design and the range of educational opportunities on offer.
The team received detailed briefings on the significant positive outcomes that have emerged since the implementation of this new area. These outcomes include enhanced student engagement, improved academic performance, and a noticeable increase in overall well-being among the students.
The visit provided invaluable insights and inspiration for integrating similar initiatives within their own schools, demonstrating the profound impact of thoughtfully designed outdoor learning spaces.
Lyngford Park successfully secured funds and support from local businesses, the PFTA, and their own school funding. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the headteacher, they secured enough funds to transform their KS1 playground for the children. The project concluded in a grand opening event, celebrating the generous contributions of all the local businesses involved.
