BACKGROUND
South Failsworth Community Primary School is in the town of Failsworth in Manchester, located near Oldham.
As a school their community aim is to work and learn together to become the best they can be, and for all their pupils and staff to reach their full potential during their time at South Failsworth Community Primary School.
PROJECT BRIEF
The school had 3 areas that needed updating due to the equipment being recently condemned following a recent playground inspection. The EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2 areas all needed to be transformed into bright, imaginative spaces that all the children could enjoy and utilise during the school day.
THE DESIGN PROCESS
The school PTA had been raising funds for the play areas, as well as having Tesco Community Funding in place.
The idea was to initially update the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 areas with new equipment and surfacing, the local Fawns Play Consultant met with the school to discuss plans and ideas. During the consultation process the EYFS area was also reviewed, and once all stake holders were consulted a design was created and presented to the school.
Once the final design was approved it was agreed that the 3 new play areas would be completed in phases throughout the year.
